At a glance: price, timing, permits, drones
Price. Photo Package AED 2,500 for 100 edited photos, Video Package AED 3,900, Photo and Video Pack AED 6,500.
Timing. Reopened or renovated venues need new pictures before guests arrive, not after the first reviews.
Permits. People who post paid promotions need the UAE Media Council Advertiser Permit. Owners promoting their own venue on their own account are exempt.
Drones. Suspended under GCAA Safety Decision 2026-03. Telescopic poles give the view from above.
A restaurant is photographed more often by its guests than by its owners. By the time a venue books a professional, hundreds of phone pictures already sit on Google, delivery apps and Instagram, most of them taken under the wrong light. The job of a food photographer in Dubai in 2026 is therefore not only to make a plate look good. It is to replace the public image of a venue at the exact moment it matters: a reopening, a new menu, a guide inspection, a season that finally brings the tables back. This guide covers what it costs, when to shoot, and the local facts that decide the result.
How much does food photography cost in Dubai?
At Cover Page, food and venue shoots use the same three fixed prices as all our content creation in Dubai. The Photo Package costs AED 2,500 for 100 edited photos, retouched and colour graded, delivered in high resolution for print menus plus versions sized for your website, delivery apps and social media. The Video Package costs AED 3,900 for one scripted video with sound design and colour grading, plus clean scenes for highlights, Stories and a teaser. The Photo and Video Pack costs AED 6,500 and combines a video, a teaser and 100 photos.
A single restaurant usually fits one package. A hotel with three outlets, a pool and a spa is a different job: every extra outlet is another location with its own light, its own staff schedule and sometimes its own approval, so the quote grows with it. We never suggest shooting a property in pieces to save money, because each return visit repeats the set up.

Reopened, renovated, relocated: why your photo library expired this summer
This year a lot of Dubai dining rooms changed while their pictures did not. The National reported on 20 September 2026 that, after a quiet summer, restaurants across the UAE are reopening with refreshed interiors, revamped menus and in some cases entirely new addresses, in a year the paper describes as unusual for hospitality because of regional uncertainty. Scalini reopened at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach with Mediterranean inspired interiors in ivory and navy and a veranda redesigned with citrus trees. Andaliman moved from a poolside setting to Level 24 of The Link at One&Only One Za'abeel, 100 metres above the city. Hitchki reopened at Novotel Dubai Gold District under a new operator.
Each of those venues now has an online gallery showing a room that no longer exists. That is the unconventional point: a renovation does not only cost the fit out, it quietly deletes your photo library. Guests who book from old pictures arrive expecting the old room. The fix is to shoot before the soft opening, when the room is finished, the staff is rehearsed and nobody has posted the new space yet.
The MICHELIN week effect: shoot before the stars, not after
The Pro Chef Middle East reported on 21 September 2026 that the MICHELIN Guide Dubai 2026 ceremony will take place on 6 October at Atlantis The Royal, the fifth edition of the Dubai guide, held with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism as destination partner. On the day a star or a Bib Gourmand is announced, every food writer, blogger and booking platform looks for images of the winners. The ones who have fresh, professional pictures ready are the ones who appear in those stories.
Our advice is a pattern, not a rule: shoot your signature dishes and the chef before the announcement, and hold a set of vertical cuts ready to publish within the hour. If you win, you own the story. If you do not, you still have a menu season of images.
Hotels: occupancy is climbing back, and the pictures should show it
Hotels have a second reason to reshoot now. According to data from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism reported by ARN News on 13 September 2026, Dubai welcomed 869,000 international overnight visitors in August, its strongest month since February, taking the total to 6.97 million for the first eight months of the year. Hotel occupancy reached 66 percent in August, up from 36 percent in March, and room inventory approached 149,000 as several properties began extensive renovations. Western Europe supplied 20 percent of visitors, South Asia 17 percent and the GCC 16 percent.
Two practical consequences follow. Pictures taken in the spring show empty pools and silent lobbies; they undersell a property that is filling up again. And a guest mix led by Europe, South Asia and the Gulf reads images differently, so we plan frames for each: the breakfast table, the family suite, the late dinner on the terrace. For hotels that host weddings, our guide to social media content for weddings in Dubai shows how the same venue is photographed for couples.
Bars and night venues: shooting in the dark without faking it
Bars are where most venue photography fails. The room is designed to be dark, the bartender moves fast and the colours come from LEDs that cameras read badly. The usual answer is to flood the room with light, which kills the mood you paid a designer to build. We work the other way round: we keep the house lighting, shoot on a cinema sensor with a high base ISO, and add small, hidden sources only where a face or a glass needs them. The pictures then look like the night your guests will actually have.
Privacy covers the whole venue, not one table. Guests who appear in public posts should agree first, and we plan hero shots with staff or invited guests so that paying customers can enjoy their evening off camera.
Who may post your content: owners, staff and paid creators
The UAE Media Council launched the Advertiser Permit for individuals who publish promotional content on social media, paid or unpaid, as the Emirates News Agency WAM reported on 30 July 2025. The Council asked companies and institutions to work only with licensed individuals. It also listed an exemption that matters to owners: a person who promotes a product or service of their own, or of a company they own, through their personal account does not need the permit.
In practice that means the owner or chef can post the new menu freely, while any creator you pay to promote the venue should hold a permit and display its number. A production agency like ours delivers the files; who publishes them, and under which permit, is worth deciding before the shoot. Food and drink is not the only sector where this matters; our guide to content creation agency prices in Dubai compares what creators and agencies charge.
Drones suspended, poles raised: the view from above in 2026
The GCAA's official website still carries no notice lifting Safety Decision 2026-03, under which drone operations across the UAE are suspended and only a written GCAA exemption allows a flight. We checked on 24 September 2026. A rooftop bar or a beach club pool will have to be shown from above another way this season.
That way is a telescopic pole or arm that lifts a camera up to about 10 metres: high enough for the full pattern of a set dinner table, the curve of a pool or a terrace at sunset. A pole mounted camera is not an aircraft, since the GCAA defines an unmanned aircraft as an aircraft operated with no pilot on board. Location permits and your own building rules still apply, and we agree them with your team first.
Filmed on cinema tools: the cameras behind every Cover Page shoot
Food is the hardest subject for colour. Saffron turns orange, beetroot turns magenta, raw red prawns turn brown the moment a sensor runs out of data. That is why our cinema camera is the Sony FX5, the first FX model to record 16 bit X-OCN RAW internally, a format previously reserved for the VENICE 2 and BURANO. Cachephoto explains what 16 bit means in practice: 65,536 values per channel, so a colourist can bring a sauce back to its true colour without breaking the gradient. Sony rates the FX5 beyond 15 stops of dynamic range, with three base ISOs of 800, 4000 and 12800 for a bright terrace lunch and a dark bar on the same day.
It records 5K open gate in 3:2, a full sensor frame that, in Cachephoto's words, gives one master for 16:9, 9:16 and 4:5. For a restaurant that means one pass of the chef plating a dish becomes the horizontal film for the website and the vertical Reel, without shooting it twice while the food goes cold. Slow motion runs up to 120 frames per second in 4K for the pour of a cocktail, and the XLR-H2 handle records 32 bit float audio at 96 kHz for the sizzle.
- Xiaomi 17 Ultra with Leica optics: for same day Stories. PetaPixel notes its super macro mode uses the telephoto camera, which keeps a good working distance from the plate; framing is loose, so we crop for vertical, where it looks sharp on a phone.
- Sony A1: 50.1 megapixel stills for menu covers and billboards.
- Sony A7R III: 42.4 megapixels, the second body for rooms and interiors.
- DJI Mini 5 Pro: only when the GCAA allows drone operations again.
The Cover Page Shooting Brief
Before you book any photographer, you should see exactly what you will get. That is why we created the Cover Page Shooting Brief. It is not a form. It is our own interactive experience that discovers your venue's taste: the dishes that sell, the corners guests photograph, the mood of the room at nine at night, and the people or details that must stay off camera.
It works as an insurance policy in both directions. You see, before any deposit, precisely which photos, films and cuts you will receive. And the way we answer shows you whether the crew really knows how to shoot a working kitchen. It is free for every venue.
Access is private: request yours and we send your login within 24 hours.

FAQ
How much does food photography cost in Dubai?
At Cover Page, the Photo Package costs AED 2,500 for 100 edited photos, the Video Package AED 3,900 and the Photo and Video Pack AED 6,500 with a video, a teaser and 100 photos. Extra outlets or locations add to the quote.
How much does a photographer cost in Dubai?
It depends on the job and the deliverables. For restaurants, bars and hotels our packages start at AED 2,500 for 100 edited photos, with video from AED 3,900.
How much should a photographer charge for 4 hours?
We price by deliverables rather than by the hour, because editing takes as long as shooting. A typical restaurant shoot fits one package; a hotel with several outlets needs more time and is quoted on its locations.
Who is the best food photographer in Dubai?
The best one for you has shot a working kitchen, can show dishes and rooms in the same style, and tells you exactly what you will receive before you pay. Ask for the brief, not only the portfolio.
How much is a professional food photographer?
For a Dubai venue, plan from AED 2,500 for a full edited photo set, and AED 6,500 if you want photos and video from the same day.
When should a restaurant reshoot its photos?
Before a reopening, a new menu or a guide announcement, and whenever the interior changes. Old pictures of a renovated room set the wrong expectations.
Do influencers need a permit to promote a restaurant in the UAE?
Yes. Individuals who publish promotional content need the UAE Media Council Advertiser Permit. An owner promoting their own venue through their own account is exempt.
Can you shoot during service?
Yes, with a plan. We schedule hero dishes before service and film the room during it, keeping paying guests off camera unless they agree.
Can you film a hotel with a drone in 2026?
Not without a written GCAA exemption, as drone operations remain suspended. We use telescopic poles of up to about 10 metres for aerial style shots.
