What changes for 2027 weddings?

Couples are art directing their own weddings. The Knot’s 2027 trends report, built on the searches, saves and spending of 1.7 million couples, puts the coastal Italian beach club at the top of the list.

The same report sees silver replacing gold on tables and in jewellery, food stations where guests talk to the chef instead of queueing at a buffet, and weddings that stretch over a weekend: nearly one in three now run for three days or more.

The UAE view is close. Gulf News, looking ahead to 2027, expects more weddings that honour two cultures with equal care, bolder colour and evening light, more thought for guest comfort, and clearer contracts with every supplier. Personal details now shape the whole day, not only the stationery.

The fact almost nobody mentions

The beach club look is Italian, but the season is not. In most Italian regions the bathing season ends in September, and the clubs stay shut until late spring, according to Mondo Balneare and QuiFinanza. Dubai’s outdoor wedding season starts in October and runs into spring, according to Bride Club ME. So the evening most couples are saving for 2027 is easier to book on a Dubai beach in February than on an Italian one.

Five wedding myths, and what is true

Myth one: luxury means more guests. A shorter guest list buys better food, better light and more time with each person. The weddings that photograph best are rarely the biggest.

Myth two: the venue’s own supplier list is the cheapest. It is the fast lane to less drama, and most of the time to a less elevated wedding. The trick is a planner’s network: we know the venues we work with well enough to unlock their cards, and to split the vendors so each one does only its own real craft.

Myth three: only a December Saturday will do. December is the busiest month for hotels and venues in Dubai. The early months of the year keep the cool evenings, and a Friday or a Sunday often opens more doors.

Myth four: cut entertainment first. Do the opposite and start with it. Picture the one moment, a violinist for the entrance or a quartet at sunset, stick to it and build the evening around it. Guests remember a moment, not a centrepiece, and guests need to be entertained.

Myth five: booking an artist direct always saves money. This is where the costly mistakes happen: the family friend with a camera who walks into every frame of your videographer, or the artist who drops out at the last minute because a better paid gig came up, with no management behind them to send a replacement. Nobody checked sound, insurance or permission to perform, and none of it buys peace before the wedding.

How do you find artists at fair prices in Dubai?

Start from a brief, not a price list. Write the moment, the length of each set, the space and the sound you already have. A fair quote answers that brief line by line, and two quotes can only be compared when they cover the same things.

Ask to see the artist at a real event, not only a studio reel. Ask what is included: sound system, travel, rehearsal, outfits, breaks. The rule in Dubai. Smoke bombs count as pyrotechnics under UAE law, so a couple cannot buy or set them off themselves. Only a licensed company accredited by SIRA can run them, with a permit for the event and Dubai Civil Defence approval of the site, according to Gulf News and Meydan Free Zone, and the venue has to agree.
