Wedding Videographer Dubai: What a UAE Wedding Film Costs and Needs

Updated 24 September 2026
At a glance: price, permits, drones, sound
Price. Wedding videography in Dubai is AED 6,500 at Cover Page; Photography and Videography together is AED 8,600.
Permits. Issued by the Dubai Media Permits Office. Application AED 520, government locations AED 2,500, private locations up to AED 25,000 a day.
Drones. Suspended across the UAE since 28 February 2026. No resumption date announced as of 24 September 2026.
Sound. Marble ballrooms echo and sea ceremonies catch wind. Lapel microphones and a venue desk feed are essential.
Most articles about wedding videography in the UAE talk about drones over the dunes and cinematic colour. The things that decide whether your film is watchable in ten years are less visible: clean sound in a marble ballroom, permissions for every location, a camera that does not fog when it steps outside, and the fact that no drone can legally fly over a UAE wedding in 2026. We have filmed events across Dubai, Milan and Lyon since 2015. This is what we check first.
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Dubai?
At Cover Page, wedding videography in Dubai is AED 6,500 for the Videography package, and the combined Photography and Videography package is AED 8,600. Both figures are shown live on our wedding packages page.
For market context, Tanit Studio puts Dubai wedding videography between AED 5,000 for a solo operator and more than AED 50,000 for a full cinematic production, with most comprehensive films between AED 15,000 and AED 30,000, and edit times from eight to twelve weeks up to six months. The gap is mostly crew and editing. One operator cannot film the bride's preparation and the groom's arrival at the same time, and a hotel wedding in Dubai often runs across a suite, a terrace and a ballroom on different floors.
In our own productions, the filming day is the smaller share of the work. Logging and syncing footage from two or three cameras and separate audio recorders, building the story, grading and mixing sound take several working days per wedding. When a quote looks unusually low, the edit is usually what has been cut.

Sound is the hard part in a Dubai wedding film
Image can be corrected in the edit. Sound cannot be rebuilt. Dubai ballrooms combine marble floors, high ceilings and glass walls, and that echo swallows vows and speeches. Beach and desert ceremonies add wind. A microphone sitting on top of the camera survives neither.
That is why Cover Page Agency records wedding audio only in 32 bit float. A standard 24 bit file has a ceiling: when the father of the bride leans into the microphone or the zaffa drums start, the peaks flatten, and that distortion is permanent. A 32 bit float file keeps the full signal above and below the level set on the day, so a shout and a whisper in the same speech can both be recovered in the edit (Zoom). It is the standard of high end cinema sound, and in a Dubai ballroom it is a necessity, not a luxury.
On the day, the Sony FX5 and its XLR handle take a wireless lapel microphone on the groom and one on the officiant, a direct feed from the venue sound desk for speeches and live music, and a room microphone for atmosphere, all locked to the picture. We still record a backup of the vows on a second device, because a ballroom full of phones and wireless systems can drop a signal. The sound desk feed needs the hotel's audio technician, so we arrange it at the venue walkthrough, not during the first dance.
The last step is where many wedding films fail: delivery. Too many videographers export sound badly. A film exported too loud gets turned down by the platform and its peaks distort once compressed; one exported too quiet sounds weak next to every other post. The Audio Engineering Society recommends delivering speech for streaming at around minus 18 LUFS (AES TD1008). We master every film and every reel to that kind of target, so your vows sound clear on a phone speaker, on Instagram and on a ballroom screen, every time.
Filming permits in Dubai: who issues them and what they cost
Media work in Dubai is licensed by the Dubai Media Permits Office, created under the Dubai Media Council in December 2024 by Law No. 29 of 2024 and Decrees No. 66 and 67 of 2024, as Gulf News reported from the official announcement. The Dubai Film and TV Commission's published schedule, as reported by Khaleej Times, lists a non refundable application fee of AED 520, a government location fee of AED 2,500 for most production types, private location fees from nothing to AED 25,000 a day, and fines of AED 25,000 for filming without permission. Hotels and beach clubs add their own approvals for outside crews, and some cap the number of vendor staff in the room.
Some frames are off limits entirely. The Dubai Media Council's Public Guide to Filming, issued in April 2026, lists airports, seaports, power and water facilities, telecom towers and active emergency sites as prohibited, and states that recording there is a criminal offence even if the footage is never shared. A sunset shot with port cranes behind the couple is a legal risk, and we frame around it.
Aerial footage in 2026: drones are suspended
As of 24 September 2026, aerial footage is not available for any UAE wedding. On 28 February 2026 the General Civil Aviation Authority suspended all drone authorisations, commercial and recreational, with Safety Decision 2026-03, citing "the prevailing circumstances affecting national airspace safety and security". Issue 02, dated 27 March 2026, extended the suspension to specialised operations such as aerial photography and stated that no new approvals will be issued; flights are possible only with a written GCAA exemption. No official resumption date has been announced as of 24 September 2026.
When approvals reopen, the official timings and prices already tell you to plan early. The GCAA states that an operator authorisation takes three weeks, with a AED 1,200 e-publications subscription, and each operation permission then takes 14 working days, plus a security clearance whenever a camera is on board. The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority charges AED 500 for commercial drone registration and AED 5,000 for a no objection certificate to fly during an event, each plus AED 10 Knowledge Dirham and AED 10 Innovation fees. A drone flown in from abroad must be declared through the DCAA Drone Possession Declaration with ticket number and ID. Until then, we film height from rooftops, balconies and dunes.
Heat, humidity and the camera
The UAE climate is a technical problem for video. August averages 43°C with humidity that can exceed 90 percent, and even October averages 36°C. When a cold camera from an air conditioned ballroom meets humid terrace air, the lens and sensor fog. In our experience that can take ten minutes or more to clear, which is longer than most first dances. We keep a second body at outdoor temperature for terrace moments and warm lenses in advance.
From 15 June to 15 September the UAE midday break bans outdoor work between 12:30 and 15:00, as ABS Partners sets out. For a summer wedding, that pushes every outdoor scene to early morning or after sunset.
Privacy law covers the whole wedding film
A video camera records everyone, from the bridal suite to the after party, and UAE law protects every person in the frame, not only the guests in the ballroom. Article 44 of Federal Decree Law No. 34 of 2021 penalises photographing people without consent and sharing the images electronically, with fines of AED 150,000 to AED 500,000 reported by Khaleej Times. The private film can include your guests; public reels and teasers should only show people who are happy to be online, including hotel staff and strangers on a public beach.
Cultural rules come first at many Gulf and South Asian weddings. The National describes Emirati weddings where no photography is allowed at the women's celebration. Where filming is allowed in a women's hall, it is typically by an all female crew, and we staff for it from the first call. For quick social cuts handled with consent, see our guide to wedding content creation in Dubai.
The calendar trap: season, Ramadan and civil ceremonies
The cool months from September to January are when most couples book, so ballroom dates tend to fill early; that is a pattern, not a rule. Dubai welcomed a record 19.59 million international visitors in 2025, with hotel occupancy around 80.7 percent, according to Khaleej Times, which adds pressure on the same weekends. Ramadan 2027 is projected by the UAE Astronomy Centre to begin on 8 February 2027, as The National reported, and many families and venues plan around it.
Since 1 February 2023, Federal Decree Law No. 41 of 2022 has allowed civil marriage for non Muslims in the UAE, with both partners at least 21 and consent declared before a judge, according to Gulf News. Many couples hold a short signing in one place and the symbolic ceremony in another. Two locations mean two sets of permissions, a second recce, extra travel and set up, and more coordination behind the scenes, which is why a two location film carries a higher fee. For photography on the same day, read our guide to hiring a wedding photographer in Dubai.
Filmed on cinema tools: the cameras behind every Cover Page shoot
Our main camera is the Sony FX5, the newest cinema camera in Sony's line, shipping since August 2026. It is the first camera in the FX series to record X-OCN inside the body, a 16 bit RAW video format that until now only Sony's VENICE 2 and BURANO cinema cameras offered. It films 5K open gate in 3:2, so a single shot can become both a wide film frame and a vertical 9:16 reel. Sony rates it at more than 15 stops of dynamic range, with three base ISOs of 800, 4000 and 12800, it films slow motion at up to 120 frames per second, and with the XLR-H2 handle it records up to four channels of 32 bit float audio at 96 kHz.
Why it matters to you: skin tones, gold decor and the hard light of a Dubai sunset can be graded without banding, because the file holds far more colour information than a standard video file. The result looks closer to cinema than to a phone. For your film, the FX5 carries the ceremony and the speeches, and its open gate frame lets us cut the same vows into the long film and the vertical reel.
Also in the kit:
- Sony A1: 50.1 megapixel stills at up to 30 frames per second, and 8K video.
- Sony A7R III: 42.4 megapixel stills, detail that holds up in a large print or album.
- Xiaomi 17 Ultra with Leica Summilux optics and a one inch 50 megapixel main camera, for quick behind the scenes clips.
- DJI Mini 5 Pro, a one inch sensor drone under 250 grams, flown only when the GCAA allows drone operations again.
While drones are grounded, we get the high angle another way: telescopic poles and arms that lift a camera up to about 10 metres for aerial style shots. The GCAA defines an unmanned aircraft as an aircraft operated with no pilot on board, and a pole mounted camera is not an aircraft. The usual location permit and venue rules still apply, and we clear them before the shoot.
The Cover Page Agency shooting brief
The Cover Page Shooting Brief is not a form. It is an interactive discovery that Cover Page Agency built for its own clients, and every wedding film we take on starts with it. Its questions go where a quote never goes: the images you keep saving, the moments you would hate to miss, the light you fall for, and the people who have to be in the frame.
It also works as your insurance. Before any deposit, you see in plain terms what you will receive, and the way we read your answers shows you whether the person behind the camera really knows the job. It costs nothing, for every couple, and it is the fastest way to know if your film will look like you.

FAQ
How much does a wedding videographer cost in Dubai?
At Cover Page, wedding videography in Dubai is AED 6,500, and Photography and Videography together is AED 8,600. Across the market, prices run from about AED 5,000 for a solo operator to over AED 50,000 for a full production.
How much does a videographer cost in Dubai?
For weddings, most comprehensive films in Dubai fall between AED 15,000 and AED 30,000, with solo operators from about AED 5,000. Our Videography package is AED 6,500.
How much does a video cost for a wedding?
It depends on crew size, hours, locations and deliverables. A full ceremony film plus highlight and reel costs more than a highlight alone, and each extra location adds permissions and set up.
Do you need a permit to film a wedding in Dubai?
Media permits in Dubai are issued by the Dubai Media Permits Office. The published schedule lists a AED 520 application fee plus location fees, and venues require their own written approval for professional crews.
Can you use a drone for a wedding video in Dubai?
Not at the moment. GCAA Safety Decision 2026-03 has suspended all drone operations in the UAE since 28 February 2026, and no resumption date has been announced as of 24 September 2026.
How long does a drone permit take in the UAE?
The GCAA states three weeks for an operator authorisation and 14 working days for each operation permission, plus a security clearance when a camera is used. New approvals are currently suspended.
How long does it take to receive a wedding video in Dubai?
Market edit times run from eight to twelve weeks up to six months. Put the delivery date for each deliverable in the contract, along with the number of revision rounds.
How much should I pay a videographer?
Pay for crew and edit time, not the camera. A hotel wedding across several rooms needs more than one operator, and clean audio needs lapel microphones and a venue desk feed.
Can guests be filmed without consent in the UAE?
Article 44 of Federal Decree Law No. 34 of 2021 penalises filming people and sharing it without consent, with fines of AED 150,000 to AED 500,000. It applies across the whole wedding, so keep non consenting people out of public reels.
When is wedding season in Dubai?
Most couples book the cool months from September to January, when highs fall from 36C to about 24C. Ramadan 2027 is projected to start on 8 February 2027.
